A Swansea actor is setting her sights on the glamorous world of the Cannes film festival.
Joanna Maw is hoping her new short film, Hawk, will wow the judges at the prestigious international awards in May. A cast and crew of 40 people spent two weeks shooting the film, which tells the story of a boy who retreats into a fantasy world created by his grandfather's stories of Celtic folklore. The 27-year-old from Tycoch, who previously appeared in the Channel 4 series Teachers, said she enjoyed shooting the film on location in Snowdonia.
"It was a fabulous experience," she said. "They were long, hard days but it was a privilege to work with such an experienced crew."
The producers are now adding the final touches before the film is released. The former Gorseinon College student said everyone involved was excited about the project
She said: "The film is fantastic. It is a really strong story and we are very proud of it.
"We are hoping it will make a real impact in Cannes."
