A NEW production company will see its work go live on the air this weekend in the form of a television advert for their old university. Two of the three members who make up screen production firm 11:22 Entertainment are former students of the North East Wales institute in Wrexham, and the team has completed its debut advertising commission for the college. The trio, NEWI graduates Sean McArdell 28 of Chester and Michael McMahon, 28 of London and colleague Matt Jones, also of Lodon will be watching with bated breath tomorrow when their work is broadcast to millions.

The 20 second advert will be screened for the first time during the regional news and weather bulletin on Granada TV, with 24 more showings over the coming weeks.

The publicity campaign aims to raise the profile of NEWI across the North West. And for the team behind it, who have already won several awards for their short films, it could be the first vital step to wining further advertising contracts.

Over the coming months they plan to open an office on the university campus and promise to give students on its HND in Film and TV the chance to gain valuable work experience on future projects.

Sean said: 'We've been involved in production work for about three years now but only set up our company six months ago. Things are going very well. We are pleased with how the advert turned out and are looking forward to seeing it on TV this weekend.'

The contract came about after the group contacted former lecturers at NEWI to tell them about Hawk, a short film they are due to film across North Wales, including a possible scene at Loggerheads Country Park, near Mold over the next few weeks.

Sean said: 'We got in touch to tell them about Hawk, and they contacted us a short time later to say they wanted to do an advert, and would we like to do it. We jumped at the chance. I think they liked the fact we are former students, and it was nice to be doing something like this for NEWI. We are now looking forward to giving other students some work experience to help them get their feet in the door.'

The first three NEWI adverts will be broadcast at 5:23pm tomorrow, 10:05pm on Sunday and 11:30am on Monday, all on Granada.
